Grays Court York
Historic House and Tea Room

Grays Court stands on a site of nearly an acre in the heart of the City’s Minster Precincts.
The house enjoys the only private access from the City Bar Wall by a staircase which has recently been restored. Steps lead down to the upper terrace which nestles against the Wall and from there a further flight leads down to the lawn.
Surrounded by borders of flowers and shrubs, our visitors are welcome to sit and relax and enjoy the excellent fare from our café. The glory of our garden so close to the City centre never fails to delight.
Under the supervision of our head gardener, we are embarking on an ambitious project to inject new life here. We are incorporating contempary design in sympathy with the traditional nature of our established garden. The historic structure provides the canvas upon which we are creating an exciting new planting scheme. New pathways have been laid and new borders planted out with inspiration from Piet Odoulf and Beth Chatto.
